Alternative filter options

Note that the new Trophy 160 has a differently designed airbox to the other models in the MGF range. In this car, the air intake system has an additional air intake into the airbox as arrowed- which is absent on the standard car.

In a similar fashion, others have already been using standard airboxes, but with more direct air feeds to the left hand side engine air intake. This set up, in conjuntion with a K&N panel filter can reep considerable benefits. Roger Parker has shown on the rolling road for example, that this sealed air intake system runs some 10 degrees celcius cooler than an equivalent standard system. The power curves below were kindly supplied by Bruno from Portugal...

By using a K&N air filter, removing the lower elbow to the resonance box, and using some ducting to enable air from the  left hand side air box, an additional 10 bhp was found on this VVC installation.
